Home to the Jack London State Historic Park, Glen Ellen is a small hamlet with a population of about 800. London lived out his years here on his ranch, aptly named Beauty Ranch, which is now a 39-acre state park. The Jack London Lodge, located on Sonoma Creek, is a favorite for overnight accommodations.
In the heart of the Sonoma Wine Country, Glen Ellen offers many options for tasting, sampling, dining, picnicking and, in the summer, even a night of theater under the stars at the Transcendence Theatre.
Glen Ellen is on Highway 12, about 15 miles east of Santa Rosa. Many wineries, both historic and nouveau, are easily accessible along the scenic route, and the Glen Ellen Village Market is noted for its picnic supplies for those who wish to linger awhile.
