The small resort town of Guerneville is located on the Russian River near the Sonoma Coast. Most of the town's commerce is geared toward vacationers along with its small local contingent. Guerneville is an unincorporated community with origins dating back to its 1800's logging industry.
The Town Plaza is the hub of commerce and is near the historic Guerneville Bridge. Korbel Champagne Cellars are only three minutes away by car, and within another 15 minute or so drive, you can access another 50 wineries.
Johnson Beach is right downtown with easy access and free parking. Seasonal boat rentals make this the place to soak up those summer rays. Armstrong Redwoods Park is nearby and has much to offer including hiking, horseback riding, fishing, camping, picnicking, biking and more. Just five minutes from downtown, it's at the end of Armstrong Woods Road.
The town was founded in the 1850s by the Guerne family and is well known for its natural beauty, liberal atmosphere and proximity to wine tasting, forests and the ocean; definitely worth exploring.
